Why doesn't England want independence from Scotland?

Several economic experts have noted that if Scotland gains independence after the referendum, the UK will face a period of economic instability, reports the British newspaper The Telegraph.
Analysts from the consulting firm CrossBorder Capital have published a report, according to which the capital outflow from the UK in August reached the level of the "credit crisis" of 2008. The company's CEO, Michael Howell, confirmed that the outflow of funds has accelerated due to a possible acquisition of independence by Scotland.
"The sterling outflow was recorded at the end of June, but in August it really picked up steam," he said.
According to the CrossBorder Capital report, the net capital outflow from the UK in August reached 16.8 billion pounds.
According to a report by Deutsche Bank, Scotland's desire for independence will have "much more serious" consequences than people expect.
