Candidates in the primary elections of the Republican Party in the USA, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (favorite with 28% of voting intentions) and former speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, admitted in the last televised debate that they are willing to declare war on Iran to prevent the development of nuclear weapons, as a last resort.
With the controversial Iranian program dominating the international agenda, President Barack Obama took advantage of his presence at the APEC Forum in Hawaii to announce that his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, agreed to a common response from both countries to pressure Iran.
In Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a meeting with his executive that Iran represents a serious danger with military dimensions.
